We’re delighted you chose Gallmeyer Farms as a destination for your school field trip, birthday party, daycare field trip, homeschool field trip or other Virginia group field trip! Here are a few frequently asked questions about planning a field trip to Gallmeyer Farms in Richmond, Virginia.
Are pets allowed?
No pets are allowed at any of our farms.
What forms of payment do you accept?
Gallmeyer Farms accepts cash, credit cards and debit cards at our farmstands. We
do not accept SNAP.
How much is it to have a birthday party at Gallmeyer Farms?
Gallmeyer Farms doesn’t charge a birthday party rental fee. Anyone is welcome to have a birthday party at the farm. However, if your intention is to give the farm experience to your party attendees as a party favor, we view this as a Birthday Party Field Trip. Please read on to determine whether or not you would like to have a Birthday Party Field Trip.
What is the fee for a school field trip?
Gallmeyer Farms does not charge a “booking fee” for farm visits.
What is the “Field Trip Participant” fee?
The Field Trip Participant fee is a per person/child fee. This is a convenience fee that allows the group leader to collect from, and make one payment for all who are participating. Please see Group visits to The Berry Patch or Group visits to the Pumpkin Patch to see what is included in the Field Trip Participant fee.
How many staff members/chaperones are free?
If a staff member or chaperone does NOT CHOOSE to participate in pick your own strawberries or pick your own pumpkin, they are welcome to participate in all other group activities for FREE.
If a staff member or chaperone chooses to participate in pick your own strawberries or pick your own pumpkin during a field trip, that staff member or chaperone will pay the regular Field Trip Participant fee and be given a two quart basket for pick your own strawberries, or a bag to put their pick your own pumpkin into.
Some staff members or chaperones may choose to “go it alone” in the field or choose Gallmeyer Farms pre-picked strawberries or pre-picked pumpkins. There is a base charge per pound for these items. The Field Trip Participant fee does not apply to staff members who want to purchase items in this manner.
Fee for additional staff members or parents/drivers?
Any group member participating in pick your own strawberry picking or pick your own pumpkin picking may choose the Field Trip Participant fee. If a parent or driver doesn’t participate in picking, they are not charged the fee.
Some staff members or chaperones may choose to “go it alone” in the field or choose Gallmeyer Farms pre-picked strawberries or pumpkins. There is a base charge per pound for these items. The Field Trip Participant fee does not apply to staff members who want to purchase items in this manner.
Fee for siblings? (all ages)
Anyone participating in pick your own strawberry picking or pick your own pumpkin picking may choose the Field Trip Participant fee. If a sibling doesn’t participate in picking, they are not charged the fee.
Are strawberries/pumpkin included with the Field Trip Participant fee?
After paying the Field Trip Participant fee you will receive a two quart basket to fill with strawberries OR will be allowed to choose (1) pumpkin, THAT FITS IN THE BAG PROVIDED, from our patch.
What if we want to purchase additional berries/pumpkins?
Purchasing additional quantities of strawberries/ pumpkins is based on per pound pricing.
Are there other activities besides berry picking at The Berry Patch?
Gallmeyer Farms has a FREE hayride, play area including a corn hole game, swing set, etc. and picnic area that are open to our field trip groups. In addition, we have an educational presentation on the growth process of the strawberry plant, from transplant through the relationship with the honeybee and ending with how we benefit from their relationship. (Must be requested on site even if it was previously requested at the time of booking.)
Are there other activities besides pumpkin picking at The Pumpkin Patch?
Gallmeyer Farms has a FREE hayride, play area and picnic area that are open to our field trips at The Pumpkin Patch. We also have a corn hole game, swing set, etc. In addition, we have an educational presentation on the growth process of the pumpkin plant, from seed to soil contact through the relationship with the honeybee and ending with how we benefit from their relationship. (Must be requested on site even if it was previously requested at the time of booking.)
Do we need to reserve a picnic area at The Berry Patch or The Pumpkin Patch for our field trip or group?
We only have a limited number of picnic tables, but we have plenty of space for you to throw a blanket on the ground for a good ole’ fashioned picnic!
Do we need to reserve a space for the FREE hay ride?
Registration is only required for organized groups (schools, daycares, etc). The general public is welcome at any time without registration.
Are there other items for sale at The Berry Patch or The Pumpkin Patch?
We always have an assortment of fresh and tasty, locally grown Gallmeyer Farms produce available, as well as our Gallmeyer Farms 100% PURE, LOCAL, RAW HONEY collected from our very own hives!
Do you have a souvenir shop?
We do not have a souvenir shop at Gallmeyer Farms as of this date.
